Loft Arts Productions presents The Firey String Sistahs’, A Jazz Chamber experience. Nioka Workman features the dynamic artistry of Charisa Dowe (violin), Jennifer Axleson (viola), Riza Printup (harp), Melissa Slocum (bass) Nioka Workman (cello). The Firey String Sistahs’ from Nioka’s new string company will present a program of original compositions; ‘Before Dawn’, ‘Spice-Reflections of the East’, ‘When the Waters Rose- A Reaction to Hurricane Katrina’, and works by Jazz greats Miles Davis, Frank Foster also, Spiritual- Amazing Grace.


Tickets for the Sunday, March 25, 2012 performance at 2:00 pm are available at www.loftartsproductionscom.virb.com . Advance Tickets are $10 general admission or $15 tickets can be purchased at the door. Students/Seniors Tickets are $10 Group rates are available. The performance is at Dwyer Cultural Arts Center (258 Saint Nicholas Ave. #2, 123rd St; Subway: A/B/C or D and Exit 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue; walk two blocks south on St. Nicholas Avenue; turn left onto 123rd Street)

A lovely Sunday afternoon 'hang for the entire family, new music, art, tea and great people. Featured artists include retro singer Rosemary George, funk guitarist Kelyvn Bell, reed-man JD Parran, theater director Marcus Dargan, trombonist Clifton Anderson, saxophonist Jay Rodriguez, Gospel/Jazz singer Barbara King, composer Joseph Daley, playwright Bridgette Wimberly, Michael Wimberly and Professor Salim Washington from Y’All of NY. The Uptown Tea Series is a monthly new family art series curated by Nioka Workman sponsored in part by the generous support of the Dwyer Cultural Center and International Communications Association and Harlem World. The Uptown Tea Series is A Loft Arts Productions, in association with Arts & Education Continuum.
