About
Three rising jazz stars – Steven Feifke Septet, Colony and Adam Kromelow Trio - make their 92YTribeca debut. At just 20 years old, pianist and composer Steven Feifke is making a name for himself in New York as an artist to watch. Most recently Feifke was selected as one of twelve semi-finalists to the 2011 International Thelonious Monk Piano Competition held in Washington DC. "Steven is a monster player,” says GRAMMY award-winning winning trumpeter Brian Lynch. “He's a virtuoso...one of the brightest new talents to appear on the modern jazz horizon in some time." He performs at 92YTribeca with his septet. Also on the bill for the evening is another 20-year-old pianist and composer, Angelo Di Loreto, who formed and leads the group Colony. Colony features Di Lorento on piano, Daniel Wilkins on saxophones, Benny Benack III on trumpet, Jeff Koch on bass and Joe Peri on drums. Rounding out the evening is The Adam Kromelow Trio, featuring its namesake on piano, Raviv Markovitz on bass, and Jason Burger on drums. The trio performs works from their recently released debut album Youngblood, which was produced by GRAMMY-award-winning jazz pianist Arturo O’Farrill.
