About

CONTEXTUAL returns at Cornelia street Cafe, on Friday the1st of March at 8:30pm.

Original music and covers played in a exploratory yet lyrical way, by a string 4tet and piano, percussion and doublebass. Mavrothi Kontanis, an extra ordinary oudist and vocalist will join CONTEXTUAL for this performance, as well as Hadar Noiberg, a superb flutist from Israel.

The members of CONTEXTUAL are:

Lefteris Kordis/piano,
John Hadfield/percussion,
Megan Gould/violin,
Maria Manousaki/violin,
Lev Zhurbin/viola,
Julia MacLaine/cello
&
Petros Klampanis/bass & looper.

Special Guests: Mavrothi Kontanis/oud, Hadar Noiberg/flute.

The experience is vivid: following Klampanis’ conceptions throughout the night, the styles mingling with complimentary undertones, one will always be engaged and in anticipation of what’s next. No matter what instrumentation used, and whether playing a jazz standard, traditional Greek folk song, or Paul McCartney tune, the outcome is always breathtaking.
