The annual Jazz in July summer festival at the 92nd Street Y, directed by pianist and Blue Note recording artist Bill Charlap, brings together some of the world’s best jazz musicians for once-in-a-lifetime performances.
Recent Jazz in July shows have explored be-bop and Latin jazz; celebrated living jazz legends Jim Hall, James Moody and former artistic director Dick Hyman; and sampled the work of great composers, from Cole Porter to Thelonious Monk. Recent line-ups have featured jazz greats Ray Bryant, Barry Harris, Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Palmieri and Cedar Walton.
Jazz in July 2010 runs from July 20-29 and features seven unique and exciting concerts over ten days. This summer’s concerts will feature such prominent artists as Maucha Adnet, Freddy Cole, Duduka Da Fonseca, Jon Faddis, Jimmy Heath, Houston Person, Bucky Pizzarelli, Renee Rosnes, Carol Sloane, Sandy Stewart, Warren Vaché, Frank Wess, Phil Woods and more!
