Alan Ferber’s music has been described as “somehow both old-school and cutting-edge.” His newest project is the Expanded Ensemble, which features some of New York's finest improvisers. Ferber takes full advantage of the classic big band instrumentation and sound, yet his music is punctuated by unconventional harmonies, wild overblown timbres, poly-rhythmic grooves, and ripping modern jazz solos.
