ArcoIris is a jazz pianist, composer and Fulbright award recipient currently residing in New York City and originally from Tucson, Arizona. She obtained her Master's degree in jazz piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music, and has won 2013 and 2015 ASCAP young jazz composer awards in addition to being a semifinalist at in the Montreux Solo Jazz Piano competition in 2012, a participant in the Mary Lou Williams Festival, Betty Carter Jazz Ahead and the Metropole Orkest Arrangers Workshop directed by Vince Mendoza featuring Richard Bona. One of her arrangements was performed by the Metropole Orkest at the 2016 BBC Proms tribute to Quincy Jones. She has also performed at major festivals throughout the world including Umbria Jazz Festival, Winter Jazz Fest in NYC, Angra Jazz Festival, Monty Alexander Jazz Festival, the Telluride Jazz Festival, the Tucson Jazz Festival with Lonnie Plaxico opening for Tower of Power in 2017 as well in 2015 at the Tucson Jazz Festival with Jimmy Cobb, and many others throughout China, Europe, India, South America, and Mexico. ArcoIris and bassist Mimi Jones are the Co-directors and composers for The D.O.M.E. Experience which is an award winning environmentally and socially motivated orchestra featuring cinematography as well as dance and has a roster of acclaimed musicians and choreographers including Francesca Harper of Alvin Ailey, Wayne Escoffery, Tia Fuller, Riza Printup, Steve Wilson and many others. DOME has been the two time recipient of The Bronx Council of the Arts Award, The Puffin Foundation Grant, and the New Music USA Grant. Ms. Sandoval is actively performing and touring with several ensembles including with acclaimed vocalist Allan Harris, the Mimi Jones Band, and her own Sonic Asylum trio and quintet project which has also performed at the Kennedy Center and Vermont Jazz Emerging Artist festival. She is the pianist/keyboardist for Brian Krock's Big Heart Machine and she has recorded on Eugene Marlow’s album “Obrigado Brasil” which made it to the first round of Grammy nominations in 2016, and WBGO considered a Latin Jazz premium album in 2017. She released her debut Sonic Asylum Trio album in summer 2018 with MEII Enterprises entitled “First Voyage” featuring Marty Kenney on bass and Allan Mednard on drums which won a 2018 Global Music Award.
Marty Kenney Bio
Based in New York City, Marty Kenney is among his generation’s most versatile and in demand double and electric bassists. Originally from Palmer, Alaska, Marty received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Northern Colorado. He relocated to New York City in 2012, where he completed his Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, studying under bassist Jay Anderson.
Marty has performed with musicians such as Art Lande, Billy Drummond, Rich Perry, Rez Abbasi, David Berkman, and the New York Standards Quartet featuring Tim Armacost and Gene Jackson. He has recorded with Olli Hirvonen featuring Walter Smith III, Arcoiris Sandoval's Sonic Asylum, John Stetch, Ben Markley featuring Joel Frahm, Brian Krock's Big Heart Machine/liddle featuring Matt Mitchell, and the Steve Slagle Trio. Marty has toured throughout the United States and Europe with Matterhorn, the Joshua Quinlan Quintet, Brian Krock's liddle, and New Helsinki, including performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Pori Jazz Festival, the Mosaic Festival in Romania, and many of famous jazz clubs and venues around the world including the Bimhuis, Jazzclub Unterfahrt, Smalls Jazz Club, Smoke, Mezzrow, Dazzle Jazz Club, the Cornelia St Cafe, Red Rocks Amphitheater, Shinjuku Pit Inn, and Blue Note NYC.
