In recognition of Black History Month 2016, saltjam. and Revive Music bring Jaimeo Brown Transcendence and Samora Pinderhughes together to present a night dedicated to the potential of humanity to Transcend and Transform.
Jaimeo and Samora are artists of the new jazz community that saw Kamasi Washington, Hiaitus Kaiyote and Kendrick Lamar revolutionise airwaves in 2015.
Their music forges the acoustic with the digital; an intersection of jazz, rock, blues, hip-hop, spoken word and cinematic immersion with a remit for creativity and social agency at a troubled global moment.
In The Transformations suite, Samora examines the radical history of resistance within the communities of the African Diaspora, whilst Jaimeo Brown Transcendence samples the work songs of labourers and oppressed peoples to bring new voice to forgotten stories.
