About

“Revered by peers, press and audiences worldwide as one of the most personal and interesting composers of the post-Piazzolla generation, Grammy nominated Argentine pianist, composer and bandleader Emilio Solla has chosen Birdland for the official premiere of his brand new Tango Jazz Orchestra, a 17 piece band that incorporates many of the best NY jazz players. Tango meets Jazz by the hands and the pencil of one of the most outstanding composers in the scene.

Solla has written music for and recorded/performed with Paquito D’Rivera, Arturo O’Farrill, Edmar Castañeda, and many others tango and latin jazz greats. His album Second Half was nominated for a 2015 Grammy Award as Best Latin Jazz Album. He continues to tour with his many projects, from duos to symphony orchestras, and is an active freelance arranger and composer in the demanding NY music scene. All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
