Ergo's music is one of stark melodic beauty, illusive electro-acoustic texture and empathic imagination, mining areas of sound unheard in modern jazz. For this special performance they will present all new music in preparation for their fourth record, "As Subtle As Tomorrow." Using Max/MSP sampling of the whole ensemble, each piece is like a Moebius strip of sonic ideas, building through abstraction of compositional fragments and subsequent responses. The trio's 2012 record, "If Not Inertia," from Cuneiform Records, was considered one of the five most overlooked records of the year by the Destination-Out blog, saying, "Ergo offers a compelling vision of how jazz can thrive in the context of processed textures. The group ably blends trombone, lap top, Rhodes electric piano, guitar, and percussion into compositions that carve sculptural blocks of sound into rigorous, unpredictable, and playful ribbons. 21st Century fusion, ya’ll — the way ahead."...
