"My Mother's Favorite Songs" will include love songs from the jazz standards songbook, plus several songs by Martha herself. Martha is constantly exploring the jazz landscape with a spirit of lifting and broadening her musical acumen. Her explorations have presented the opportunity to work with a wide range of world class musicians, including, Paul Smith, Benny Green, Richard Wyands, Harvie S, Eddie Marshall, John Clayton, Leon Joyce, Butch Miles, and Mark Isham, to name only a few.
Widely acclaimed for the timeless quality and wonderful warm contralto, Martha is a singer's singer, a jazz artist's artist, a cabaret performer par excellence. With six recordings to her name, including the critically acclaimed CDS:"Come Walk With Me" which features her deep lyrical reading of the Johnny Frigo standard "Detour Ahead" (which incidentally featured Mr. Frigo on violin); to her lovely reading of Porter's "Every time we say Goodbye"; and "Blues over Broadway" featuring arrangements by Russ Kassoff written specifically for Martha, featuring the radio hit "Alone Together", which reached number one on several national radio stations, to "Get Out of Town", "Send in the Clowns" featuring Larry Gray on flute and bass; and her stunning avant garde version of "What I Did for Love"; Martha continues to grow a an singer and a songwriter, having received several Billboard songwriting awards.
