In a rare performance, South African legend Abdullah Ibrahim revisits his iconic 1960 recording "Jazz Epistle Verse 1" on April 17 at the Town Hall in NYC. Supported by his Ekaya ensemble with guest trumpeter Lesedi Ntsane sitting in for the ailing Hugh Masekela, Ibrahim celebrates this landmark in South African modern jazz on South Africa Freedom Day. Famed singer Dorothy Masuka opens with set with the help of bass player Bakithi Khumalo, an alumnus of Paul Simon's Graceland.
