Whether as a superb ensemble player or at the head of his own outstanding groups, drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts never fails to light a fire under his listeners and fellow musicians. In this case, he’s working with two of the best: saxophonist Steve Coleman, a founder of the influential “M–Base” movement and the leader on some two dozen albums; and bassist Robert Hurst, a four–time Grammy Award winner known to million for his eight years of work with “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” The saxophone trio is among the most challenging formats in the jazz tradition, but “Tain,” Steve, and Robert are ready to step into the arena!
