Josh Lawrence & Lost Works at Jazz Standard

In February 2019, trumpeter and composer Josh Lawrence released Lost Works (PosiTone Records). The multipart suite at the heart of this recording, he explains, deals with three works by German Expressionist painter Wassily Kandinsky that were labelled degenerate art by Hitlers Nazi Party, confiscated from the Bauhaus, and ultimately destroyed in World War II. Now, aided by a grant from Chamber Music America, Lawrence has created a video album, Lost Works Live and this special Jazz Standard onenighter kicks off its release.
