About

Lew Tabackin has been long recognized as a virtuoso for his hard-driving full-throated tenor saxophone work derived from legends Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. He’s played in the big bands of Clark Terry, Duke Pearson, and Thad Jones and Mel Lewis as well as George Wein’s Newport All-Star Band, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and his own renowned orchestra, the Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabackin Big Band. Lew Tabackin’s trio includes Phil Palombi on bass and Mark Taylor on drums, with Lew on tenor sax and flute. Two seatings, 7:30 and 9:30 PM; tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, $10 for students with valid ID.
