Discover a JazzFest, weekend Fish Fry in a restored 1800s Victorian Brownstone building of Brooklyn’s Landmarked Historical District, Bedford Stuyvesant.
Presented in a natural acoustic sound room are concert series that offers a fish fry buffet. This venue is fill with cultural awareness of a different period of togetherness. Step back for just a moment and feel what took place in a real jazz community.
Performances are done with the authentic jazz vibe of yesteryear. Imagine retreating back to a different time and spend the evening in a very intimate, private place. Experience the enjoyment of the Jazz Concert, and a Southern Fish Fry Buffet that will delight any palette cooked on site in the traditional jazz way.
Before the evening ends if you feel that you would like to show off your talents by performing your special artistic self, join in on the OPEN MIC. The musicians will play with you or you can play for them. Open Participation is expected at the end of the night from the audience, but if you’re shy just sit back and enjoy the show.
During the 1930 perhaps even earlier, Harlem was not the only Jazz scene. Brooklyn had one as well. Bedford Stuyvesant had one of the largest Jazz neighborhoods around. Bed Stuy held many venues housing jazz greats like Thelonius Monk, Lena Horn, Randy Weston, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Hank Mobley, Abbey Lincoln, plus others. Paramount Theatre located in Brooklyn among other theaters held major Jazz Concerts. All things eventually changed, and jazz club fizzled out in favor of a different music generation. Uptown and Midtown changed as well.
Debbie McClain, owner of Sankofa Aban Bed and Breakfast looked to revive the local community jazz scene of the past when she met her partner, Eric Lemons.

This is Salon Jazz. No need for bells, whistles or amps. Even though Cow bells and lip whistling are welcomed for a tune or two, just pucker up if you must. Intimate, classic acoustic concerts, plain and simple every Friday and Saturday night. A fun loving atmosphere of live jazz for everyone.
You’re invited to spend a magical evening of music with Debbie and Eric taking you behind the scenes undercover some unheard of jazz history with a different experience. You can purchase the right ticket and get there early, meet the performers, before you take a seat for a Jazz Fest of a lifetime. These two host will present you with some of today’s best entertaining jazz artist. Continuing the history of the neighborhood, a group of jazz locals and broadway greats Blue Note recording artists like James Spaulding, Trombonist/Euphonist Kiane Zawadi, vocalist Keisha St. James, Boncellia Lewis, Greg Bandy and Bobby Sanabria connect over music in a tradition that’s diminished, but clearly not lost, with a style of life from an earlier time.
