The Microscopic Septet is making a rare New York appearance to celebrate the release of their new CD, "Been Up So Long It Looks Like Down To Me" on Cuneiform Records. There will be two sets, and the band will be playing the material from the record, plus more.
Karl Ackerman wrote in allaboutjazz.com: “The tracks on Been Up So Long It Looks Like Down to Me are relatively compact, with one clocking in at under one minute; all having a contagious cheerfulness, modernly ostentatious and colorful textures. Like all of the compositions in the Microscopic Septet catalogue, there is an unaffected and timeless quality to the music that will appeal to those who favor mainstream as well as the more exploratory listener.”
