Bassist Adam Hopkins, originally from Baltimore, founded the NY chapter in January 2012 to help expand and unify the local creative music scene. The collective was originally founded by Hopkins and musical associate Matt Frazao in Baltimore, where the series has occurred on a weekly basis since January 2009. It was chosen as “Best Band in Baltimore” in 2010 by the Baltimore City Paper and continues to gain recognition as one of the most unique music series on the East Coast. The Baltimore chapter includes world-renowned improvisers Dave Ballou, John Dierker, and Susan Alcorn and has featured guests Michael Formanek, Andrew D’Angelo, and Ellery Eskelin.
