At 92, a full 64 years after he released his first record, Weston is still performing at full force. He has been called a "griot of jazz and its African roots" and "one of the world's great visionary pianists and composers." A pioneer of multicultural expression on piano, his style draws from Ellington and Monk but is highly distinctive: percussive, rhythmic, capable of producing a wide range of moods. A true jazz great and one of its most important ambassadors. His life work has been in advocacy for connecting worlds of traditions in music.
