Formed in the early 90s as an answer to jazz as a sideman’s game, West by Midwest is back after 25 years of being sidemen.

Actually these guys have had pretty storied careers.

St. Louis native Chris Cheek has been performing throughout the world with musical giants like Charlie Haden, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Paul Motian, Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkle and Bill Frisell for for 30 years. He’s on countless records and is widely regarded as one of the most badass saxophonists of his generation. Truly.

Columbus Ohio native Dan Rieser has spent the better part of the last 30 years as one of the most musical drummers on the planet no matter what he’s playing. No lie! New York native Danny Fox is gracefully filling in for our original West Coast component Jon Dryden but brings so much sweet and nasty East Coast attitude he might just fold our pizza for us. Seriously, check this out: the Danny Fox trio released the critically acclaimed albums "The One Constant,” "Wide Eyed,” and “The Great Nostalgist.” He was called a "pianist of diverse accomplishment" (NY Times), co-founded the New Orleans rock and roll group Tubby and has performed with artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, Cassandra Wilson, and Emmylou Harris.

Minneapolis native Dylan Keefe is the bass player for, and founding member of, the multiplatinum selling rock band Marcy Playground. He is the Director of Sound Design for the hit podcast Radiolab and has also composed original music scores and sound designed for several several documentary films, radio plays and acclaimed dance performances.
